DP&L, Vectren Offer Guidance to Managing Energy Costs
DAYTON -- Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) and Vectren Corporation (Vectren) are encouraging their customers with increased energy consumption to use available resources to help manage energy costs.
Both utilities have a large number of customers in the Miami Valley affected by two months of bitterly cold temperatures. DP&L supplies electricity, which includes electric heat, to 515,000 customers in 24 counties in west central Ohio, and Vectren supplies natural gas heating and/or electricity to 1 million customers in Indiana and Ohio.
The recent weeks of sub-zero temperatures have prompted customers to use more energy to heat their homes, and as such, they should anticipate an increase in their energy bills. Increases will vary based on factors such as residence size, insulation level and thermostat setting.
It is important for our customers to know that we are here to help with flexible payment options, guidance on financial assistance as well as energy efficiency savings programs, said DP&L President Derek A. Porter. We understand some of our customers may be facing financial stress because the extremely cold temperatures have translated into higher electric bills.
DP&L has several resources to help customers manage energy costs, including budget billing, payment plans, and payment assistance if your income meets certain guidelines. The state of Ohio also has several programs to help assist Ohio residents with their utility bills.
Visit http://www.dpandl.com/ or call 800-433-8500 for more information on how to stay warm for less and options for paying your bill.
Given the extreme temperatures, we know many will see bill amounts that are higher than winters past, said Colleen Ryan, president of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio. We encourage all customers to reach out to us before they get behind on payments or for other resources to manage costs.
Vectren has in place a number of tools to help customers manage their energy bills, including energy assistance and tips, appliance rebates and flexible payment options. Details for these programs can be found on https://www.vectren.com/livesmart/landing.jsp or by calling 1-800-227-1376.
