Question of the Day
Should gun silencers be legal for hunting in Ohio?
Comment: Yes they should from splfd ohio by josh
Comment: Heck Ya! I dare anyone without ear protection to sit next to a 30-06 rifle going off. You wouldnt be able to hear for a month. It will improve the hunters abilities to communicate with each other and reduce the risk of getting shot by your friend. I bet the people who live in rural areas where hunting is permitted are supporting this because of the constant noise during the hunting season. The criminal aspect of silencers is a mute point because if someone wants to kill they will regardless of the law. A kitchen knife is still quieter than a silenced rifle or pistol. from Centerville, Oh by Cameron
Comment: There is no reason why they shouldn't be legal. They will cut down on hearing loss. If you hunt in a rural setting for varmints such are groundhogs or coyote's but still have houses in the area it wont bother the neighbors.Plus if you hunt coyotes at night people wont hear the loud gunshot and become alarmed for no reason and call the police. So they wont have to waste time trying track down where it came from. Also it will not increase poaching because people who poach are still going to do it anyway.Since they are already breaking the law they don't care and wont go through the legal process of buying an NFA item hence they are law breakers to start with. What needs to happen next is they need to be removed from the NFA registry all together and made over the counter sales with NICS check like a long gun or hand gun.Fill out a form 4473 get your background. You pass you get your sound suppressor and go home. They are not like the ones in the movies. That is Hollywood crap. from America by Silence Dogood
Comment: YES by STILL FREE
Comment: definatly should be legal it helps prevent hearing loss and keeps the liberal dousch bags from hearing it and complaining from miamisburg by m
Comment: i see no reason why a legally owned silencer sould not be used ,but what are you going to put them on,being the most popular season would be deer gun season which you can not use a rifle in the state of ohio for deer hunting from springboro, ohio by Bill
Comment: Because they're pointless. from Trotwood/OH by Douglas
Comment: I CAN THINK OF A FEW REASONS FOR A SILENCER BUT HUNTING ISN'T ONE OF THEM. IF YOU WANT TO HUNT QUIETLY USE A SLING OR CROSSBOW. from sunny, downtown Fairborn by the ol' Man
Comment: Because people with guns kill other people, lets not make it easier. from Riverside, OH by Rob
