ODOT reminding drivers to be careful if they hits the roads during the winter storm
MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Ohio Department of Transportation has been checking out all their equipment as they prepare for a major winter storm expected to hit the Miami Valley Friday.
Crews spent the day Thursday repairing and ensuring all of their equipment is in working order, as well as making brine and de-icer for the roadways.
ODOT is reminding everyone that if you are planning to hit the road over the weekend, you should be extra cautious.
"This could be ice before it snows," Public Information Officer Mandi Dillon said. "We're not sure yet. So if that happens, just make sure you're taking extra precautions, going slow; there could be black ice. Make sure you're aware, especially on bridges, ramps, overpasses; they can freeze first, because there's air on both sides of them. So just make sure you're taking it slow out there."
ODOT also wants to remind you that if you see one of their plows or salt trucks out working, please given them room.
