PAULDING COUNTY, Ohio (CNN) – A massive manhunt is underway for an inmate who fled during a prisoner transport in northwest Ohio.

Officials say 32-year-old Brandon Powell has a gun and is considered very dangerous. He reportedly overpowered a deputy in Paulding County on Friday, causing a prisoner transport vehicle to crash.

The sheriff’s office says Powell then took the deputy's handgun and ammunition, before taking off.

More than 50 law enforcement officers are now searching for him, using k-9 units and a helicopter.

Powell is 6 feet tall and about 155 pounds, possibly wearing blue jeans and a white-and-brown T-shirt.

Deputies say he should be considered dangerous.
