#LoveEpidemic conference brings together faith community to address the opioid crisis
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The Miami Valley’s faith community presented solutions to the opioid crisis at a conference Tuesday, which was inspired by Governor John Kasich’s call to action.
Dayton is considered the epicenter of the national drug crisis, and leaders from the community put on the #LoveEpidemic conference at the Christian Life Center to discuss ways to fight it.
More than 250 people filled the church, and they were given tools to help work through any drug addictions members of their churches may be battling.
“We gave them an opportunity to listen a little bit about what’s available,” Outreach Coordinator for Woodhaven Recoveries Pastor Greg Delaney said. “We gave them opportunities to learn. We set up plans in place to launch into the space as part of the solution. But more importantly, we reminded our crowd today of love.”
Gov. Kasich’s goal that inspired the event is to reduce, if not eliminate drug-related deaths in the Buckeye State.
