Xenia PD collaborating with local departments after series of smash-and-grabs
XENIA, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Xenia Police are reaching out to the community for help as they work to identify the suspects in a smash-and-grab at East Main Connection.
Officials at Xenia PD said they are working with Beavercreek and Englewood Police after similar break-ins on the same night.
The burglary at East Main Connection cost store manager Adam more than $10,000 in damage and stolen merchandise.
The suspects were caught on surveillance camera, including one suspect whose face was uncovered.
“They don’t care about being watched or something,” Adam said, “because you see in the picture, you can see his face clearly.”
The burglary in Xenia happened just after midnight April 11, and then two hours later, there was an attempted burglary at Palmer Firearms in Beavercreek. Just after 4 a.m., there was another burglary reported at a T-Mobile store in Englewood.
Each of them involved groups who gained access by throwing a cement block into the glass.
“They can get to everything before the police came,” Adam said. “So actually, they maybe planned to do this being a group. Easier for them to get more with a short time.”
He’s been living on edge since the incident, but has a message for the thieves.
“I need you to think, if that happened to you or to one of your family or to your dad if he had a small business, how are you going to feel?” he said. “Just feel the same way.”
In addition to the $10,000 it already cost Adam, he said he’ll be spending more on security upgrades.
