WPAFB selected for new mission that will bring 400 jobs to the base
DAYTON, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF)- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has been selected for a new F-35 mission that will bring at least 400 jobs to the base. The Pentagon announced their decision to place the F-35 Hybrid Product Support Integrator Organization at Wright-Patt on Tuesday.
Congressman Mike Turner, and Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman advocated the decision back in April to have the organization to come to WPAFB. Turner credits the decision made by the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson, to strong bipartisan backing.
“With today’s decision to bring the F-35 HPSI Organization to Wright-Patt, at least 400 new jobs will be added to our community as a direct result of our strong bipartisan advocacy." said Turner
Brown and Portman both said they understand that this organization plays a critical part in supporting our national defense, especially those men and women in uniform in the Miami Valley.
“This decision is a testament to our incredible work force and reinforces the Miami Valley’s critical role in supporting our national defense.” said Portman
“Secretary Wilson recognized that the base, and the greater Dayton area, provide a unique environment to enable our servicemembers and civilians to continue meeting our national security needs,” said Brown.
The organization will also have the potential to add more jobs over the upcoming years.
