DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Work is starting on the demolition of the old Hewitt Soap Factory on Linden Avenue.

The factory caught fire on December 22, 2016, it took fire crews 11 hours to put the flames out.

As crews work to clear away the debris that's been left behind over the past seven months, part of Linden Avenue will be shut down. The City had mistakenly said Linden Avenue in the area would be shut down last week and that cleanup would take up to four weeks. When FOX 45 reached out to city leaders, we were told there was no firm date for when the road would be closed.
