Suspects caught on camera yanking ATM through wall of store
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - For the third time in a little more than a month, an ATM machine has been stolen from a local store.
Video showed a pickup truck pulling into the parking lot of the Crown Point Drive Thru on West Third Street Tuesday morning, and attaching what appeared to be a chain to the ATM.
The ATM was then yanked, going through the store's brick wall.
"It's ridiculous," customer Ian Gordon said.
He used the ATM a lot.
"Pretty much every day," Gordon said.
An electrician was at the store Wednesday repairing the damage done by the ATM thief. FOX 45 spoke with the owner, who said that about a month ago someone tried to break in the store and steal the ATM, but wasn't able to get the machine.
"I think it's wrong," Gordan said. "That's why we ain't got anything over here on the west side of Dayton, you know. People don't know how to treat anything."
This robbery was the third store a few miles apart in West Dayton to have the ATM stolen since May 28.
The Four Points Market on Gettysburg was hit in much the same way, where two people were seen on surveillance video stealing the ATM using a truck.
On Memorial Day, Estridge Market had its ATM taken.
"They hooked the chains to the door and pulled the door off and snatched the ATM," Estridge Market Manager Bill Evans said.
Gordon believed the people doing this will get caught.
"What you do in the dark will come to the light at the end of the day," said Gordon.
The owner planned to replace the ATM soon.
