Substitute accused of inappropriate relationship with students to have psych evaluation
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A substitute teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with two students is requesting a competency hearing.
Madeline Marx, 23, faces charges of sexual battery. During her appearance in court today, she was crying and emotional, to which the judge said to her "hang in there, okay. We'll get through this, you'll be alright."
Marx was escorted out of Kettering-Fairmont High School in November after students reported the alleged inappropriate relationship to school authorities.
During her court appearance today, the judge approved Marx' request for a competency hearing. She will undergo a psychiatric evaluation and will appear in court again in January. Marx lawyer plans to plead that his client is not guilty by reason of insanity.
