SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Springfield Police Division Chief Lee Graf is taking to social media to try and help fight crime through Facebook Live.

The city has had 11 homicides so far in 2018, while there were 12 in the entirety of last year. Chief Graf said residents and officers are concerned, so they decided to reach out to social media to talk about some of the issues of violence in the community and what people can do.

He said he also plans to explain how investigations are handled, and the only thing they're asking of people who participate is to be respectful of the conversation and family members of victims.

The Facebook Live public forum is from 6 - 7 p.m., and if it's successful, Graf said they plan to do more.
