MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - On Tuesday night, Santa Claus is coming to town.
ABC Pediatric Therapy is holding a Sensory Santa event at their Miamisburg location.
“We invite families here who have children that maybe going to the mall and having a very stimulating experience with fun lights and music and crowds is just too much for their children,” ABC Pediatric Therapy CEO Diane Crecelius said.
One of the most difficult parts for children with sensory concerns or physical limitations is waiting in long lines, but at ABC Pediatric Therapy, they won’t have to.
“These kids can come to our gym and swing on swings, climb on rock walls, jump on trampolines, and then when it’s their turn they can go in to see Santa,” Crecelius said. “We want them to be able to play so that they don’t have to wait in line like you might do at a traditional experience at the mall.”
The best part? When Santa Claus isn’t making toys, he’s actually a therapist.
“It’s amazing that he’s a therapist because he knows how to handle children,” Crecelius said. “He knows how to be sensitive to their experiences and we just want this experience to be for the child and their family.”
Crecelius has been holding Sensory Santa events for the past decade.
“[Families] absolutely love it,” Crecelius said. “The families are able to come into this room and it’s just the family with Santa. And they’re able to have this really calm one on one experience that allows them to experience Santa in their way.”
The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4 at the Miamisburg location.
There will be another event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6 at the West Chester location.
