Search for Chelsey Coe to continue Thursday at Sugarcreek MetroPark
GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The search for a missing Miamisburg woman is set to continue Thursday.
Chelsey Coe has been reported missing since September, and on Tuesday morning, they received a lead that brought them to Sugarcreek MetroPark.
“It was a lead enough that I wanted to search it and try because if we don’t try I’m not going to find her,” Miamisburg Sgt. Jeff Muncy said.
Along with the FBI and Ohio BCI, Miamisburg Police spent two full days searching Sugarcreek MetroPark.
Angie Proffit, who has lived near the park her entire life, knows just what law enforcement is up against.
“I mean, there’s a lot of coverage back there,” she said. “It’s gonna take longer than three days if they’re looking for somebody.”
This isn’t the first time the department has worked to follow a lead in the case. In May, officers suddenly showed up to a home in Miamisburg with drills and shovels after someone gave them a tip. They never found a body, but they did find evidence.
“We’ve had one person of interest that’s been the primary person of interest for a while,” Sgt. Muncy said. “I haven’t found her yet so it could be a whole series of things. It could be anyone.”
Chelsey’s Mom has created a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising reward money for anyone who can bring her closer to her daughter.
It’s a goal that resonates with many.
“I couldn’t even imagine,” Profitt said. “You know, it’s weird thinking somewhere this close there could be somebody out there lost.”
Sgt. Muncy has asked anyone with information about the case to call him on his cell phone at 937-847-6612.
