TROTWOOD, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Englewood Police said a suspect in a Rite Aid robbery was caught when the vehicle that person was in crashed after a chase Monday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., a person went into the Rite Aid and passed a note to a worker saying that it was a robbery and he was armed. It also had a list of controlled substances that he wanted, which the pharmacist then put into a bag before the suspect took off.
Crews got a call right after the incident both from the pharmacy and from a witness, who was able to give officials a vehicle description. Officers who were in the area where they believed the suspect may have been headed spotted a vehicle matching the description and tried to make a traffic stop, at which point the vehicle took off, ultimately crashing just inside of Trotwood.
The driver took off on foot from the crash, but was taken into custody thanks to a bystander, according to Sgt. Mike Lang. The passenger, who they believe was the one inside the store, was trapped in the vehicle by the crash, and was also taken into custody.
Both suspects are facing multiple charges in the case. They were both minorly injured in the crash, and were getting treatment.
