Newport Aquarium saying goodbye to Mighty Mike before he heads back to Florida
NEWPORT, Ky. (WKEF/WRGT) - Mighty Mike has been wowing millions of people at Newport Aquarium, and now the largest American alligator outside of Florida is getting ready to head back to the Sunshine State.
Mighty Mike has been at the aquarium for the past five years, but is now heading back home to the Crocodilian Conversation Center where he will continue to share a conservation message as an ambassador for the wetlands habitat and preservation.
If you want to say goodbye to Mighty Mike, you can see him through September 9, and fans will have the chance to leave well wishes for him on a banner that will be on display in Gator Alley for the rest of the summer.
Newport Aquarium has extended its hours to be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m through September 2, and for a very limited time, they are offering one free child admission with each full adult price Sundays through Fridays after 4 p.m. To find out more, head over to this website.
