UPDATE: Identity of man killed in Butler Twp. house fire released

Name of victim in fatal Butler Twp. house fire not being released yet (WKEF/WRGT)

UPDATE: The Montgomery County Coroner's Office has identified the man who died Saturday night in a house fire in Butler Township.

The man is Kermit D. Walkup, 77, and he lived in the home on Little York Road.

According to Fire Chief Alig, a passerby saw the fire and called 911. When they arrived on scene, a woman in her 70's was outside suffering from hear and smoke injuries. She told them a fire started in her chair in the living room and she went to tell her husband and get him out of the house. She said she was able to make her way outside, but he wasn't. She reportedly tried to go back in a couple times, but the fire and smoke were so heavy that she couldn't.


BUTLER TWP., Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The name of a person who died Saturday night in a Butler Township house fire has not been released.

Fire broke out around 10:30 Saturday night, November 11, in the 500 block of Little York Road.

As of Monday morning, the Montgomery County Coroner's office was not releasing the victim's identity. It's not yet clear what caused the fire. This is a developing story and will be updated.
