Middletown Police plea for help for kids after mother of 9 fatally overdoses
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Middletown Police are making an emotional plea on Facebook after a mother of nine died in a heroin overdose.
On its Facebook page, the department writes that they "don't normally do this," but are asking for help for the children who are now without a mother. Police say the woman was "with her supposed 'friends' who then in turn left her to die in front of her 9 kids. Not only did they leave her to die, but they stole her money as well and told the kids they were leaving to go buy a 2-liter of soda."
Police say they're now looking for two men who are white males, possibly a father/son team. Police say the older man had gray hair and gray facial hair and was wearing a red and black coat. The younger man had on a brown jacket and has a thin build.
The department says the incident has disturbed them so much, they're now working to make a difference in the family's lives. Police say the children's father is a hard worker and is trying to make ends meet. The department is asking for anyone who can donate to do so. They say they need clothing, blankets, food, a stove, refrigerator and ornaments for a Christmas tree and toys. The children range in age from 1 to 14.
In closing, the department writes that the family has touched their hearts and they're sharing the story on Facebook to do what they can to help them. "It's not about our Facebook page, it's not about "Likes", it's about pure human compassion. If you can help us out, please bring your donation here to the police department." The post, however, is going viral, with more than 1,300 shares and nearly 500 "likes" within an hour.
