(WKEF/WRGT) - A winter weather system is making its way toward the Miami Valley and could bring with it the most snowfall the area has seen in more than a year.

Snow will begin falling Saturday morning, according to ABC22/FOX45 meteorologists and will fall throughout the day. Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said he expected the heaviest amount of snow to fall in the afternoon.

The big question: how much snow will we get? Jamie is forecasting for northern parts of the Miami Valley to get about two inches of snow, while the southern portion of the Miami Valley to receive four inches.

Temperatures will remain very cold, and another snow shower is possible on Sunday morning.
