MIAMI TWP, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Miami Township officials said they plan to split almost $59,000 from a Community Development Block Grant between a couple of projects.
The township applied for funding and is set to get the grant in FY 2019. The recommendation was part of Montgomery county's Annual Action Plan, and with the assistance of two advisory committees made up of citizens and community development officials, recommended that the township receive the funds.
"We plan to use those funds to bring our parks and some roadways up to ADA compliance,” Public Works Director Dan Mayberry said. “We’ll be adding access walks to park amenities and compliant sidewalk curb ramps in township neighborhoods.”
These kinds of grants are designed to help communities and organizations expand economic lifestyle opportunities, and the county expects to have approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development by November.
