One person taken to the hospital after Kettering officer-involved shooting

Kettering officer drops 'Signal 99' or call for assistance (WKEF/WRGT)

UPDATE: One person was taken to an area hospital for treatment after being shot by a Kettering officer.

The department said the officer reported making a traffic stop at Smithville Road and Ewalt Avenue just before 8:45 p.m., and then reported shots were fired. Dayton Police said one person had run out of the vehicle during the stop, which is when the officer fired shots.

A weapon was recovered from the scene, and officials said they do have a suspect in custody. The officer was not injured in the incident.

Dayton Police will be handling the criminal investigation of the case, while Kettering Police will reportedly be investigating the shooting.
