High School student dies in fatal car crash in Preble County
PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF)- UPDATE: The student who was killed in a deadly car crash in Preble County has been identified.
Preble Shawnee high school release a statement on twitter identifying the vicitm as Wyatt Clevenger. Clevenger was a junior at Preble Shawnee High School and the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
Clevenger was enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at CTC and played on the Preble Shawnee Arrows soccer team.
The high school will have crisis counselors available for students on Monday morning.
A Preble Shawnee High School student died in a fatal car crash Saturday night.
The Preble County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the deadly crash on Wayne Trace Road near Somers Gratis Road that happened at 11:00 pm Saturday evening.
According to a release from the Sheriff's Office, the 16-year-old male was thrown from his 2002 Toyota after hitting a guardrail on Wayne Trace Road.
The teen, who was alone in the vehicle, was driving north on Wayne Trace Road when he ran off the left side of the road before striking the guardrail.
Deputies confirmed that evidence at the scene indicates that speed and wet roads may have been a factor in the crash.
According to the release, the 16 year-old Preble Shawnee High School student, who attended Miami Valley CTC, identity has not been released because family is still being notified.
Camden EMS, Camden Fire Department and the Gratis EMS all responded to the scene of the crash. Wayne Trace Road was shut down for 3 hours while deputies conducted their investigation.
This incident is still under investigation by the Preble County Coroner's Office and the Preble County Sheriff's Office.
