CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The grandmother of a 4-year-old child found wandering on Main Street in Centerville last Thursday will face charges.

Police say Vanessa Champion, 63, will be charged with one count of misdemeanor child endangering. A court date has been set for Champion for October 29 in Kettering Municipal Court.

The 4-year-old girl was found near Bill's Donuts around 6:20 a.m. The person who spotted the girl brought her inside the business to warm up. At the time she was found, the girl was only wearing black leggings, a black zip pullover, black socks and no shoes.

Police first shared a photo of the girl on the department's social media page, asking for help to identify her and her parents. Investigators later said the girl's parents found out their daughter was missing when a friend called and said they'd seen her picture on social media. The parents were at work at the time, police say, and their daughter was being cared for by a family member.
