Feast of Giving slices up 3,200 pounds of turkey for Thanksgiving dinner
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Thirty-two hundred pounds of turkey is going into this year’s Feast of Giving at the Dayton Convention Center.
This enormous event happens every year on Thanksgiving Day and takes about 500 volunteers to pull off.
ABC 22/FOX 45 has been helping put on the Thanksgiving Meal since 2009.
FOX 45 was there to see them cut the turkey in preparation for this giant, free dinner.
Organizers expect there to be between six and eight thousand guests this year to indulge in the feast, which will feature turkey and all the classic side dishes.
That includes 8,000 servings of pie.
General Manager of Special Food Services Craig Brookey says that it’s not just about people who can’t afford the traditional dinner.
“You know, it’s not just those that don’t have the means to have a Thanksgiving,” said Brookey, “it’s those that just don’t want to cook… We get great feedback on the food and service, and everybody’s smiling and having a good time, and it’s a great day.”
This is the 30th year for the Feast of Giving.
