Fairgrounds Furniture officially closes its doors (WKEF/WRGT)

GREENE CO. (WKEF/WRGT) - Tuesday afternoon, Melissa Smith and her son loaded up the last of their inventory from Fairgrounds Furniture, and hit the road for door-to-door deliveries.

"It's tough to say goodbye to everything," Melissa told Fox 45's Shavon Anderson. "But, it's time to move on."

Inside the store, sale signs came down and more stock was being loaded into trucks.

It's been 45 years since Harold "Mountain" Hill opened the store in 1973. The store's lease was terminated early, after a lengthy battle with the Greene County Agricultural Society. Fairgrounds Furniture officially closed its doors to customers on the 23rd.

Customers will be able to pick up their purchased items over the next few days. The store is recommending people take their businesses to 'Recline and Rest' in Beavercreek.
