DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The Dayton Realtors teamed up with the U.S. Marine Corps once again for the annual Toys for Tots event.

For 33 years, the organization has dedicated their annual Holiday Reception to the program.

Toys for Tots gives toys to needy children through the Marine Corps, keeping in mind that “Every child deserves a little Christmas.”

President of the Dayton area Board of Realtors Karen O’Grady says that they have donated "thousands and thousands" of toys to the program.

“It’s a very reciprocal event,” said O’Grady.

The program started in 1947 by the Marines and was originally meant to aid orphaned war children.

It has spread since then, and is now in its 70th year.

O’Grady said it’s important to go out and help people and children who are in need.

“There are people who go without gifts and go without enough to celebrate Christmas,” said O’Grady, “Take the step and do what you can.”
