"Dayton is definitely growing,” Crowds excited by new downtown development
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) Monday night in downtown Dayton, Joseph Glenn catered to crowds outside Fifth Third field, playing a set of steel pans.
If anyone sees the benefit from an urban boom, it’s him.
"Dayton is definitely growing,” he told FOX 45’s Shavon Anderson. "Increasing every year, since I've been here."
Glenn’s excitement was shared over the weekend, as hundreds of people stood in line for nearly two hours to get an exclusive tour inside Dayton’s Arcade. Miami Valley residents got a look at spaces soon to serve restaurants, retailers and renters.
Sandy Gudorf, President of the Downtown Dayton Partnership, said turnout was overwhelming.
"From the very moment we started the tour, the wait was about an hour and a half,” she said.
At one point, lines wrapped around the building.
"We had, we think about 850 people that went through it,” Gudorf added. "This community is excited about the Arcade, and they want it open."
Right now, there are no plans for another Arcade tour, but Gudorf said based on the community response, they will likely think about hosting another.
