Dayton Dragons getting kids pumped up for baseball season
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The Dayton Dragons don’t hit the field for weeks, but they’re already pumping up the crowd with the Dragon’s School Assembly program.
In the weeks leading up to opening day, Dragons mascots Heater or Gem are visiting dozens of schools across the Miami Valley to give kids a way to fundraise for their schools by selling Dragons tickets.
Director of Media Relations Tom Nichols said it’s important for the Dragons to be involved in the community any way they can.
“It sort of leads into spring training,” he said, “so we’re thinking warmer weather: spring, summer, baseball; and it’s very high energy for the kids, and they really enjoy it.”
The home opener for the Dragons is set for April 7.
