DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Darke County Fair Board is now a major step closer to replacing a swine barn that burned down on the fairgrounds in October 2018.

The Early Bird reports that the board voted to accept a $500,000 donation from Cargill in exchange for lifetime naming rights of the building on Wednesday.

There are still questions in the rebuilding project, including about moving the barn or having one building to house the swine, goats and sheep.

Under the current proposal, they would demolish the goat barn, dog barn and FAA building, construct a 28,000 square-foot metal framed Swine Barn and Community Center, a new goat barn in the location of the old Swine Barn and a wood framed Dog Pavilion.

Bids on the current scope of the project are expected on February 1.
