Chief: 'There's a special place in hell for those people,' warns of fake GoFundMe
Officer Eric Joering and Office Tony Morelli were both fatally shot on Saturday morning while responding to a 911 hang-up on Crosswind Drive. When officers arrived, they exchanged gunfire with suspect Quentin Smith.
During the press conference, Westerville Police Chief Joe Morbitzer addressed the fake GoFundMe pages that are circling around the internet: "We should be honoring these two officers, not illicitly trying to profit off of their deaths."
Morbizter went on to address the threats they have been receiving within the past 24 hours: “We have people calling our radio room, screaming threats, obscenities and vulgarities at our radio techs. And, quite frankly, there's a special place in hell for those people. And my wish is that it comes very soon," Morbizter said.
Morbitzer said they are working on funeral arrangements with the family.
