ARCANUM, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Chief of Police in Arcanum has been put on paid administrative leave after an investigation was opened by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
The village's mayor released a statement Thursday saying Chief Andrew Ashbaugh was placed on leave after meeting with the sheriff's office.
According to mayor Gregory Baumle, Ashbaugh has been put on leave until the investigation has been completed. The current Arcanum Police Sergeant Timothy Zellers will be the interim police chief during the investigation.
Authorities say no additional comments will be made as this is an ongoing investigation.
