AMVETS throws Christmas party for URS clients with disabilities
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Christmas just got a little more special for some in the Miami Valley thanks to the AMVETS Post 24.
Every year, they put on a Christmas party for clients with disabilities from United Rehabilitation Services. They get to have a pizza party and a little bit of a dance party, and Santa even stops by, making it an event everyone looks forward to every year.
"This is their most favorite thing to do all year," human resource manager for URS Rachel Zidaroff said. "They talk about this from the time we leave, they're going to start talking about it tomorrow, and they're going to want to come back and they just can't wait to get here every year."
All the girls who come to the event bring a present for another girl, and boys pick one up for boys, and then everyone walks away with a present that they didn't bring at the end of the night.
Zidaroff said that every year, AMVETS reaches out to URS to put on the event and makes it happen free of charge.
