Police say man arrested for double shooting that left 1 dead acted in self defense

    UPDATE: Police say Kennar Woods was acting in self defense in this case.

    He won't be facing murder charges, but he still does face weapons charges, as well as drug possession and tampering with evidence.

    Woods is still behind bars on $10,000 bond.

    DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Police have arrested a man on murder charges after a double shooting overnight Friday left one person dead.

    Kennar J. Woods, 34, was taken into custody several hours after the shooting at an apartment in the 2300 block of Germantown Street. The shooting was reported just after midnight Friday.

    When officers arrived on the scene, they say one of the victims had died. The Montgomery Count Coroner Office has identified the victim as Brandon Cunningham, 35, of Dayton. The other victim had been taken to the hospital, we're told the second victim is in stable condition and expected to be okay.

    Police do not have any motives for the shooting, but Woods has been booked into jail on charges of Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Having Weapons while Under Disability.
