***A Winter Storm Warning is in effect starting at 10PM tonight for Butler, Warren, Clinton, Preble, Darke, Greene, Montgomery, Clark, Miami and Champaign Counties until 1 am Saturday.***
Our next winter weather system is arriving tonight. Heavy rain will move in this evening which will likely wash away a lot of the salt ODOT will put down in preparation. As cold arctic air filters in the rain will gradually change over to freezing rain/sleet/mix then fully over to snow through your Friday morning from northwest to southeast. This will create a layer of ice for your morning commute that snow will accumulate on through the day. Please plan for a much longer and slick drive to work or school Friday morning.
With in the Warning you can expect up to 4-7" of snow by days end with some areas seeing 7"+. Areas in the Advisory (Mercer, Shelby, Auglaize and Logan Co.) can expect 2-4". Snow totals are dependent on how quickly we cool down and how much ice (sleet/freezing rain) mixes in with the snow initially.
*NOTE* There is a lot going on with this forecast so a lot can change. Stay with your First Warning Weather Team for updates as this system gets closer.
Once the front passes we can expect highs in the 20s and lows in the teens for this Saturday with wind chills in the single digits.
Sunday into Monday we will have highs close to freezing and another system could bring us more sleet and snow. By Tuesday we will have our coldest day of the season with highs in the lower 20s and some lows will be in the single digits on Wednesday morning.
