UPDATE: Police ID Girls in Fight Video; Considering Charges Against Adults

HAMILTON -- Police detectives say the parents of two teen girls shown fighting in a cellphone video are not willing to press charges regarding the fight.

Regardless, Hamilton Police Sgt. Ed Burns says detectives are still considering the possibility of charging the adults who were watching, and in some cases possibly encouraging the fight.

Police have identified the girls as a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old.

Burns said police are trying to identify the adults in the video.

Though the investigation of the fight itself is closed due to the unwillingness of parents to file a police report or assist in any criminal prosecution, detectives continue to look into the actions of the adults in the video," Burns said. "If and when positive identification is made, detectives will be consulting with the Hamilton City Prosecutor and the warrant approval officer of the Hamilton Municipal Court to determine if charges will be filed and what charges are appropriate for the actions of the adults.

Video Shows Adults Encouraging Girls Fighting in Hamilton

HAMILTON -- Teenage girls beat each other in the middle of a local neighborhood as parents rooted them on and police are now looking at whether the fight warrants criminal charges.

Another teen recorded the whole thing and posted it on Facebook.

The girl fight caught on cellphone video was not the only disturbing aspect.

An adult cheering section gathered around the girls. The video shows two girls squaring off in an open lot in Hamilton. Adults are seen walking toward the action. A man in the video initially sounded like he wanted to break up the fight. But as the girls continued to tangle, the man was heard encouraging one of the girls to continue fighting.

"Rip it out, get on top of her, kick her. Come on get her! Kick her, get her! Tear her head off," he said in the video.

Hamilton police Sgt. Ed Buns found the video and the adult involvement disturbing.

"I guess the most disturbing thing is you've got parents who are promoting and even encouraging what could be considered to be serious physical injury," Buns said.

Josh Peters lives across the street from where the fight took place and said, "I really don't condone it. I think parents should handle it in a different way. I mean there are things to entertain besides resorting to violence," Peters said.

Near the end of the fight, the man was seen pounding his fist, encouraging the one girl. ABC 22/FOX 45 sister station Local 12 went to the home of the one girl on Monday. Her stepmother confirmed she was aware of the video but refused to comment, other than to say her husband was not at home. She then closed the door.

Police said they are investigating but so far the other girl has not filed a complaint.
