Murder Suspects Caught on Tape

WAYNESVILLE-- Video has surfaced of two homicide suspects not long before police say they committed murder.

Nineteen-year-olds Timothy Mosley and Austin Myers were caught on tape at a Waynesville gas station. The gruesome homicide of 18-year-old Justin Back rocked the small towns of Waynesville and Corwin in late January. Until now, the only images available of the suspects were their mug shots.

"I was alone, it was in the middle of the day," said Lauren Patrick, the clerk in the new surveillance video. She helped the suspects pay for their gas while on duty at Pat's Place gas station on January 28th.

"They just wanted to get seven bucks in gas. We had a friendly exchange, I didn't think anything of it," she said.

The video was captured at 12:48 p.m.

Just seven hours later, Justin Back's dad called 9-1-1 from their family home on Corwin Road.

"Came home and he's still not home. But we noticed that the house was in disarray," he said during his call with the dispatcher.

"I was shocked. And obviously disturbed. Like immediately," Lauren said. "I couldn't believe they actually came in and talked to me. Hours before they planned on allegedly committing this crime."

Investigators in Warren County said Mosley and Myers were acquaintances of Justin Back.

"There's even some evidence that this may have been preplanned to cause the death of Justin Back," said Sheriff Larry Sims at a news conference.

Back had been choked, stabbed and shot before his body was dumped in Preble County.

"They didn't even talk to each other," Lauren said about Mosely and Myers as they appeared in the middle. "It was weird that he came in with him just to text on his phone. Makes me wonder what he was texting!" She said of Mosely.

Lauren added that prosecutors came looking for the video for their capital murder case.

"She came in, said she was a detective, and wanted to collect some evidence if any."

"No way did I ever think that they would have had any... had intentions at all," she finished.

The Warren County Prosecutors Office would not divulge details of the case being built but did expect that both suspects will be in court for a status conference in late April.
