Battle Continues in Huber Heights
HUBER HEIGHTS -- It's been a long battle for Huber Heights schools, and even after the election, it continues.
Right now, the results are 62 percent against and 38 percent for the 5.95 mill levy.
The levy has failed the past three times it's been on the ballot.
After its failure in May, the district cut several teaching positions along with starting a pay-to-play program for its student athletes.
At one point, the cost was $750 but in July the district voted to bring the cost for parents down to $428.
If the levy would have passed, the district was expecting to reinstate several teaching positions along with transportation for its elementary kids.
One parent we spoke to says Tuesday's failure, for the fourth time, is disappointing.
"It's an extreme disappointment and let down," said Josh Sullenberger, a parent. "I hate to see what's happening in our community with the constant failing of levies, and more importantly I just hate hearing families that I know have been a part of this community for a long time, contemplating leaving this community because we're not rallying around our schools."
The district has made more than $14 million in cuts the past few years, and is now cutting even more.
