Clayton Mayor's Car Hit by Bullet During Violent Hit-and-Run (WATCH TRAFFIC CAMERA VIDEO

CLAYTON -- Clayton police tell us Mayor Joyce Dietering's car was hit by a bullet during a case of "road rage" Tuesday night.

The crash happened on N. Main Street near Heathcliff around 9 p.m.

Police tell us an innocent white four-door vehicle was hit by a black SUV trying to get away from several other vehicles that boxed them in.

"They were boxed in with three or four cars. Those vehicles were chasing them not allowing them to get out of the lane," said Richard Rose, Director of Public Safety.

A suburban that was involved in the crash on N. Main St. took off, but a short time later was pursued by the police chief who was in an unmarked car.

While the Chief of Police pursued that car, the victims of the road rage incident got out of the cars and started running.

Moments later, an unidentified vehicle pulled up and shot at them multiple times.

Police say the passenger, Kevin Florence Junior, of Dayton was shot in the hand. He was able to get in a passerby's car to be driven to the hospital.
