Vacant House Fire Under Investigation
DAYTON -- Another vacant house goes up in flames.
Investigators are working to find out what started a fire at a vacant home early Thursday morning in Dayton.
It happened around 3:30 Thursday morning on Garland Avenue in Dayton. This vacant house is in the same neighborhood of the previous three suspicious vacant house fires this week.
Firefighters have been out here for several hours trying to control the flames.
The entire roof was engulfed with flames. A ladder truck was brought in there pouring in that water to extinguish that fire.
When firefighters first arrived they went into the house to attack that fire but they had to pull out because it was just too dangerous.
The neighbors on each side of the house were evacuated. There is a concern now that the house will collapse from all the damage.
Next door neighbors say they heard a loud explosion that shook their entire house. When a man came outside he said he saw the side of the house next door was blown off and he saw the fire in the basement.
That fire quickly spread. Firefighters arrived soon after. The home has been vacant about four months, although we are told the utilities were still on.
The District Chief says the fire does look suspicious.
An arson investigator has been called out to go through the wreckage once the fire is completely out.
Once the fire is out in this house is checked to make sure it is stable neighbors will be able to go back into their homes.
DAYTON -- Investigators are working to find out what started a fire at a vacant home early this morning in Dayton.
The came just before 3:30 this morning on 113 North Garland Avenue. Firefighters got on the scene and saw smoke coming from the basement. Crews were eventually pulled out of the home because it appeared to be structurally unsafe. The people living on either side of the home have been evacuated because firefighters are worried the home could collapse on one of them.
This is the third fire in the same neighborhood in the past week. Firefighters say right now the cause of this fire on Garland Avenue is undetermined, but arson investigators have been called in to check it out.
