Beavercreek Schools, Teachers Agree to 2-Year Contract
BEAVERCREEK -- The Beavercreek City School District Board of Education and the Beavercreek Education Association, which represents the districts teachers, came to an agreement Wednesday on a two-year contract.
As a part of the agreement, the districts health insurance committee, made up of representatives of all employee groups, will reduce the costs of the districts health insurance by 6 percent by January 1, 2014. The agreement also caps the maximum annual increase of the districts health insurance costs at 10 percent.
According to a joint statement by the district and teachers, the agreement contains no increase on base salary for the 2013-14 school year and no increase on base salary for the 2014-15 school year, but does reward teachers if the district is recognized for excellent performance in state report card assessments.
In year one of the contract, teachers will receive a reward for performance in recognition of the districts outstanding achievement on the most recent Report Card. This reward will result in a one-time movement on the teachers salary schedule. In year two of the contract, if the district receives an average grade of A on its next Report Card, teachers will receive another one-time merit movement on the salary schedule. If the district earns an average rating of B, each teacher will receive a Recognition Award of $500 in lieu of any merit movement.
During the two-year contract, a compensation committee comprised of teachers and administrators will prepare recommendations for the current teachers salary schedule to include performance-based compensation, and those recommendations will be provided to the Superintendent and the Association for bargaining a successor agreement.
