Lt. Col. Under Investigation Responds to Sex Crime Investigation

DAYTON -- The high ranking Air Force official at the center of a sex investigation is denying all allegations against him. Lt. Col. Val Finnell is  a program director at Wright Patt's school of Aerospace Medicine.

"There is no physical evidence of anything happening. There is no other thing that substantiates the allegations and if there is anything we are asking the police dept to turn it over to us so we can defend it," said the family attorney Ralph Wilcoxson.

He says  Lt. Finnell and his family are seeking counseling as they try to deal with the allegations that he committed sex crimes against a child.

"He absolutely denies it and he was absolutely flabbergasted because this came out of nowhere," he said.

Dayton Police served a search warrant Thursday at a home on Jackson Street in the Oregon District. They removed computers and other electronic devices.

"These items are items we offered to them for months ago and they didn't want to take them and now they're taking them, so we're not sure what changed in their aggressiveness," said Wilcoxson.

So far, no charges have been filed, but it still came as a shock to neighbors and Finnell's landlord.

"Yes I'm very surprised." landlord Jeff Fisher said. "This is an Officer in the United States Air force.  The perfect tenant."

Wilcoxson says Finnell has been cooperating since the investigation first began in April.

"We've also completed a stress test that Val passed with flying colors, they weren't interested in that," said Wilcoxson. "We offered to take a polygraph test with an examiner of their choosing and they declined that, so we're not really sure what the police dept is looking for."

Lt.  Finnell has been at WPAFB for about a year.
