Community Helps Neighbor Clean Up Storm Aftermath
NEW KNOXVILLE -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado hit New Knoxville during the storms Wednesday night.
The worst of the damage was just off State Route 219 near the Neil Armstrong Airport.
One man lost a barn and had a hole punctured in the wall of his brick home.
But in this small community people stepped up to help, and he didn't even have to ask.
"When lightning struck it lit up everything and our whole barn was gone," said Seth Kuck.
Kuck is talking about the pile of twisted metal and wood that used to be his family's farm.
"I just seen my camper about tipping over and all of a sudden our electric goes out," said Kuck.
But it was what they found in the morning that gave Kuck and his family, some relief.
"I showed up and our land was full of cars. All along the road was full of cars and it was just crazy, everyone was helping. It was awesome," said Kuck.
"Just anything that they'd asked me to do. Just to give a helping hand, and just anything I can do to possibly help," said Isiahel Adams, who was one of many that helped clean up the mess and repair the torn apart roof on the 100-year-old home.
"We didn't ask for anyone to come out and people just started showing up," said Kuck.
"That's what family is for and that's why we stick together," said Adams.
And because the community stuck by their neighbor, there's good news on the horizon.
"I think we'll have this cleaned up in a few days and hopefully start building something new," said Kuck.
No one was hurt in the tornado.
