Police Investigating Spray-Painting Vandalism
HUBER HEIGHTS -- Police are investigating at least 13 cases of vandalism where vehicles have been damaged with spray-painted vulgarities and broken into.
Residents in the area of Rosebury Drive were informed by police of the damage.
The incidents happened overnight around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Carl Gross was one of the people who's car was vandalized with profanity. Twice within a year, his property has been targeted. First it was paint balls, now this.
"I got up this morning to go to work and I was like, who the heck did this to my car," he said.
His car was one of many that was vandalized.
"Police told me that I wasn't the first person that called and there were about 13 other calls this morning of people that got hit," Gross explained.
The spray paint wasn't the only damage, things were stolen as well.
"Well we're two days into school being out and yes we suspect it was probably kids due to the items that were taken," said Sgt. John Kissee, with Huber Heights Police.
Some of the cars were brought to Trimbach's Body Shop. The owner said he received four calls Thursday morning.
Gross was one of them.
"The shop estimated it at $630 dollars or something, it makes me mad," he said.
Police stress to make sure your car is always locked with the windows up.
"The vehicles were unsecured so if I had anything to put out to anybody in the area you know keep your vehicles locked, most of the time thieves will just go by and check door handles and see if they can get in the car," said Sgt. Kissee.
In the meantime, Gross is disappointed and upset at the amount of money it's going to take to get his car fixed, his message to the people responsible.
"I'm assuming these are like kids from middle school...so get a life," he said
Anyone with tips about the vandals is asked to call Huber Heights Police at 937-233-1565.
