Vigil For Teen Killed in Crash; Driver & Victim's Families Speak Out
HUBER HEIGHTS -- Two families are torn apart after a car crash last week killed a Wayne High School teen and left another teen facing serious charges.
Austin Abshire would be finishing up his sophomore year next week at Wayne High School, but he's not the only one not getting that chance.
Madison Bowen, the sister of the teen facing charges, says "it's heartbreaking to know I wake up every day now knowing he's not there."
Madison's brother was driving the vehicle that killed 16-year-old Abshire, and he didn't have a license. Madison explains, "he thought he'd be OK to drive. The other girl in the car was falling asleep so he thought, 'I'll drive.'"
Now the three teens who called themselves "the squad" are saying their goodbyes to not just one but two of their friends.
