Top 100 recruit in 2018 class commits to UD
DAYTON -- The University of Dayton men's basketball team picked up a verbal commitment from not only one of the state's top players but one of the top players nationally in the class of 2018.
Dwayne Cohill, a 6-foot-3 senior from Holy Name High school in Parma Heights, Ohio, announced his commitment on Twitter Monday afternoon.
Cohill is considered a four star prospect by both Rivals.com and 247sports.com. Both of those recruiting services have him ranked among the top 100 players nationally.
Cohill is coming off a junior season in which he led Holy Name to a 23-4 record and a second OHSAA Division II regional appearance in three years. He averaged 22.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.5 steals. The performance netted him honors, such as The Associated Press All-Ohio first team.
Cohill had scheduled visits to Ohio State and Virginia Tech in the coming weeks, but after his recent visit to UD decided to commit to the Flyers. Vanderbilt, Clemson, UNLV, West Virginia, Texas, Pittsburgh and Penn State also made his top 10.
Cohill becomes the first commit for UD in the 2018 class.
