Top 22: Greenville's Bryce Jenkinson
GREENVILLE -- If you go to a Greenville practice or see the team play... Bryce Jenkinson will jump out at you. The senior linebacker is committed to Cincinnati, listed at 6' 2" and 230 pounds and he is the unquestioned leader on the team.
The big difference this year is Jenkinson's health. He's battled through a couple injuries, most notably a torn ACL as a sophomore.
As a team Greenville is looking to improve upon last year's 2-8 mark after improving from 1-9 in 2012.
But that will start with the leadership from guys like Bryce.
"We got a bunch of a great group of seniors," Jenkinson said.
"They're going to go out there and we're going to lead a really good team, really well put together team. Our coaches are real solid and we're gonna get something moving."
Head coach Aaron Shaffer added, "Bryce is unbelievably gifted athletically. He shouldn't be able to run the way he does, shouldn't be able to jump the way he does."
"He's agressive, he's physical. But Bryce's number one talent is his ability to lead his teammates. He's a positive influence on his team, he's a positive influence in his community."
Jenkinson also reiterated the confidence he has in this team and that the guys are committed more than before.
Greenville will open the season on the road august 29th against an Eaton Eagles team that went 7-3 a year ago. Eaton has also defeated Greenville in the last two season openers.
