Question of the Day

Do you think Congress should extend unemployment benefits?

23.33% YES
76.66% NO

Comment: Absolutely from Dayton, Oh by Pat

Comment: My unemployment ran out in 2012, I was still working on my degree at WSU, forced to get a p/t job and now I still cannot find gainful full time work with benefits because there is too much competition. I am a single parent, behind 4 months on rent and still doing temp work for $11/hr. I'm drowning in debt and my poor daughter might be forced out of her school if we get evicted. Yes extend their benefits to give the rest of us a chance to get a good job. from Oakwood, OH by Christine

Comment: How can they even consider not extending these benefits. When I see Congress take a pay cut and reduce their own expenses then I might consider them balancing their budgets on the backs of decent Americans. from Dayton by Mitch

Comment: Congress helped bail out big companies for billions of dollars, why can't they help the unemployed who are having a rough time finding jobs in this bad economy. from springfild by jro

Comment: Why should they. All I hear from the useless government is how great the economy is doing. So why would they need to keep sending useless people my money.Yes I said my money. The government is nothing but legalized theft. They steal my money that I worked for and give it too people to lazy to work. Why work when you can sit in your butt and get all your bills paid for Wake up people.Keep voting the way you have been and nothing will change. The GOP and the Democrats are laughing at all of us all the way to the bank.If you don't believe me how else can you get to be a multi millionaire by the time they get out of office. That's right they don't ever leave office. They do nothing but continually campaign. from America by Silence Dogood

Comment: To many people are not looking for work because they get the benefits. Time to get them working from Troy OH by John

Comment: Unemployment benefits should be determined by each State since it's a Stat benefit not a Federal one. Each state should be able to determine the necessity of their own citizens; to weigh the jobs available vs those that are just sucking the system dry. The Federal Government should not be able determine what each State can afford and what their job market currently is. Obviously there are States that have more job opportunities than others. from Kettering, OH by Frank

Comment: Sorry folks, we had a recent applicant for employement ask me after filling out app. do you really think I want a job? I stated I thougt so and his reply was why get a job when this shows the couty I receive aid from that I am trying so I get my food stamps etc. also I have been on unemployment for 2.5 years and I keep busy full time doing construction work on the side and get paid cash, so America what do ya think 1. get rid of madam Harry Reid from the US senate now. 2. get rid of sir Nancy Pelosi now. 3. dump everyone from Washington that is taking money from honest working people to give to all of their special interest groups now.4. this issue is an no-no after obamacare ,let me ask what is next-next-next?- America do you not care any longer? from Troy, Ohio by Les

Comment: Congress should repeal Obamacare. This would go a long way to healing the economy and put people back to work from Miami Twp. Ohio by Dave

Comment: Pay people not to work but cut the pay of those who are, does this make sense? from dayton by Gr

Comment: Pay people not to work but cut the pay of those who are, does this make sense? from dayton by Gr

Comment: EXTENDED UNENPLOYMENT BENEFITS IS JUST ANOTHER FORM OF WELFARE. IF AN INDIVIDUAL CAN'T FIND EMPLOYMENT IN 99 WEEKS THEY SHOULD HAVE USED THAT TIME FOR AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE. NO MORE 'NANNY STATE.' from sunny downtown Fairborn by the ol' Man

Comment: They can't even get the Unemployment numbers right, they constantly "revise the previous month" numbers. They can't get a true handle on it so they should not be extending what they don't know they are spending. from Plano, TX by Diane

Comment: Vacation is over! from Springfield Ohio by tammie

Comment: it is only giving people a excuse not to work from miamisburg by m
