Many Viewers Come Out as Trotwood Roads Close for Police Office Funeral Procession

TROTWOOD -- Due to the funeral procession today for Trotwood Police Officer Dave Yaney, officers closed Shiloh Springs Road between Union and Olive roads, and Wolf Creek Pike between Snyder and Seybold roads.

Many of those that weren't able to make it to the funeral still paid their respect to Officer Yaney's as they lined the streets of Trotwood to see his funeral procession.

Officer Yaney  was born and raised here in Trotwood and today officers have blocked the streets for his funeral procession and many people in the community didn't mind standing out in the cold Monday to pay the last respects.

"Very hurt I started crying actually," said longtime friend Willie Hatton.

"It's pretty rough," said friend Krista Wilson.

From Drexel to Main Street, people lined the streets with their cameras to say goodbye to Officer Dave Yaney who was killed in a crash last Wednesday.

"Dave could have been mayor here hands down. He was very much loved by everyone here," said Hatton.

So loved, Rich's gas station even closed their doors during the hour long processional. And some came out who never even knew him.

"Every time I go into riches gas station there so many people saying good things about him it's almost as if I knew him," Lynette Cooper said.

And for those that  did know him, the message was the same.

"He gave so much to the community he was just 1 of us. he never had any kind of bad attitude he was just a sweet man," said Wilson.

"My daughter passed away in 2001 she had a seizure and he was one of the officers that came to my house and he was so respectful to me and my family," said Dewanda Taylor. "He's just a good person."

"Dave I hope they have deer hunting in the sky my friend. I don't know I ain't been but I hope one day I go and I can see you there," said Hatton.

This procession included officers from all around the Miami Valley. All in all we counted about 300 cars and 12 motorcycles. Many Viewers Come Out as Trotwood Roads Close for Police Office Funeral Procession
