Two coal cars derailed in German Township
GERMAN TWP., Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Two coal cars derailed just south of Tremont City around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
According to German Township dispatch, the two coal cars turned on their sides due to a rail malfunction just off of Upper Valley Pike.
The exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation, but German Twp. dispatch said rain and water may have caused the rail to sink into the ground, causing the cars to tip off of the rail.
No one was injured.
Police are working to get the roadway cleared, but are unsure of when the scene will be cleared.
