Sheriff: Butler Co. man caught on camera beating pit bull
BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Hamilton man has been cited for animal cruelty after authorities say he was caught on camera beating a dog with a thick leash.
Kristopher Johnson, 21, will appear in court later this week on the misdemeanor. The Butler County Sheriff's Office says someone sent them an anonymous video of Johnson beating a pit bull with the leash.
The animal, Zeus, was removed from the home by the Butler County Sheriff's Office Dog Warden. Sheriff Richard Jones said a crime like the one Johnson is accused of should fit the federal statute. "People like this deserve far worse punishments for their abusive actions," Jones said. "It takes a real work person to abuse a defenseless animal and it disgusts anyone who is a normal human being."
