Prosecutor to announce a decision on Tensing retrial
CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Hamilton County Prosecutor says he'll make an announcement tomorrow afternoon, July 18, on if his office will seek a third retrial for Ray Tensing.
The former University of Cincinnati police officer shot and kill Sam DuBose in 2015 during a traffic stop. Tensing has been tried for DuBose's death twice, but both times the cases ended in a mistrial when the jury could not agree on a verdict. Tensing, 27, said he feared for his life when DuBose, 43, tried to drive away from a traffic stop, DuBose had been stopped for having a missing front license plate.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says his office will announce whether they'll seek a third retrial for Tensing at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. FOX 45 will carry the announcement live online.
